Welcome to Pediatric Dentistry of Litchfield County. We are pleased that you have chosen our practice for your child's dental needs. Our entire team will do everything possible to earn your confidence and your child's trust.
Our mission is to provide each child with the highest quality dental care in a friendly and fun environment. By recognizing the unique needs of each patient, our talented and caring team aspires to create a positive dental experience for your child. As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Larry Lee has extensive practice and training in comforting fearful children. Our dental team is skilled at communicating on each child's level. We have created a friendly environment for children with dental equipment geared for young people, and games, music and prizes. As necessary, laughing gas (nitrous oxide) is always available to make your child more comfortable during treatment. Top
Pediatric dentistry is tailored specifically to the needs of children. After four years of dental school, pediatric dentists complete an additional two years of postdoctoral training with an emphasis on preventive dentistry, child growth and development, behavior management, patients with special needs, emergency oral care, and sedation. Pediatric dentists are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen-age years. As your child grows, his or her needs will change; each stage requires an age-appropriate approach to oral care. A pediatric dentist is the best-qualified professional to meet these needs. Top
The first visit is primarily to acquaint your child with the dentist and to review basic home oral care. We recommend that this initial visit occur around the child's first birthday. For older children, the first visit also involves a thorough review of his or her medical history, an examination and cleaning, and any necessary X-ray films. Everything we do will be clearly communicated to both you and your child. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children into the treatment area. This helps to ease the child's anxiety and allows Dr. Lee to discuss findings and treatment recommendations with you. However, we do ask that you assume the role of silent partner in order to help Dr. Lee establish a cooperative, trusting relationship with your child. Top
Preparing your child for his/her first visit involves simply telling your child a few days in advance that he/she will be visiting the dentist. If your child has any questions, answer enthusiastically. Being positive in your own attitude will go a long way to making your child’s visit a pleasant one. You can help your child view dental visits as an important part of growing up and being responsible for their own oral health. Top
Prevention of dental problems begins early in a child's life. Good oral hygiene habits and regular dental visits are integral parts of preventing problems.
